Experiments in food photography: calamari

I recently got a new camera, and I’m taking a stab a stab at learning how photography actually works (ie using more than just the automatic setting).  Since I spend a good amount of time cooking and eating,  food tends to be a popular test subject. Here’s a shot from lunch with friends last week.
